Palm Horizon Shorts

How to look stylish this summer!

Looking bright and colourful is always a must in the hot months, especially if you're in the water sports game!

Brand new for 2014, there's no question that the Palm Horizon Shorts look stylish. They are practical too though. The neoprene waist line helps stop any movement up or down while you're wearing them, and the super comfortable fleece lining means you won't want to take them off.

These will be great for an Alps trip or a Winter play boating trip to warmer climates like Uganda. The aqua blue colour scheme is a bit more funky looking than the jet grey, although it might not match your personal colour scheme quite as well.

Topping the list for comfortable summer boating wear this year.

Palm Snake Sling

There are far too many hisss-terical snake puns to adder up.
It's finally back in store. The Palm Snake Sling has quite possibly been the fastest selling piece of kit of 2014, and it seems as soon as they come in they just slither back out the door again.

Essentially this is the old Palm Safety Tape, but with a few nifty tweaks.
The Snake Sling has taken its name from the two sewn loops at each end, which resemble a snake's head. This feature is pretty handy for quick rescue situations, you can just clip a karabiner in and away you go.

The length has been reduced to 4 meters, making it a little bit more compact and easier to manage. I've often found myself having too much tape left over in the past, so for me this was a key feature.

It's also red.

You can't really go wrong with it. It can be used as a tape, a sling, a prussic, and a handy clothes line afterwards. Certainly one to have in your paddling arsenal.

Kokatat Tropos Blast

Suns out, guns out!

The Kokatat Tropos Blast feels like a true summer cag. The bicep cuffs in particular are incredibly comfortable, and won't prevent you're freedom of movement when trying to pull off your favourite moves. The neck doesn't feel tight or restraining either, but at the same time it doesn't feel loose.

The designs have that classic Kokatat look about them, something that seems to be becoming more prominent in current trends, and a look that I personally favour.

Plenty of movement, style, and comfort. What more can you ask of a shorty cag?

Astral Sea Wolf

A fresh new look for a top touring buoyancy aid.

The Astral Sea Wolf is certainly one of the more stylish touring PFDs on the market. It's got a really sleek and slim fitting look about it, and the new colour schemes are bold but do not look like there's too much going on.
Just like the new Astral Green Jacket, the Sea Wolf has a huge storage pocket on the front. You could get quite a bit into this, whether you're going for karabiners or chocolate bars as your bare essentials, and the two way zip opening means you can see exactly what you are looking for.

Due to the buoyancy aid's side entry it is suited to fit just about everyone whether you're male or female, and feels pretty snug once you've finished adjusting it.

Overall we think the Astral Sea Wolf is a nifty looking buoyancy aid with a lot to offer, definitely worth a look at before choosing your next one. Sea kayakers with love it, coaches will use it, and the pocket space will help the anglers hold onto their kit for longer.

Overboard Phone Case

A firm favourite amongst the Escape Watersports team.

For electronics, Overboard cases are certainly the way forward. The Overboard Phone case is perfect for the smart phone generation, where taking photos and updating social media is top of the list. The front window is really clear so you don't lose very much of your phone's screen quality at all, and the same clear window at the back allows you to use your camera to its full potential.

The Overboard Phone Case comes in two sizes (small & large) allowing you to fit most phones quite comfortably inside:

Small - Ideal for Samsung Galaxy S3/S4, Iphone 4/5, Nokia Luma and similar sized phones.
Large - Ideal for Samsung Note 3, HTC One, Sony Xperia Z and similar sized phones.

The locking SlideSeal closure is the cherry on top though. This is a really secure top closure, much more reliant than other methods like roll down or snap shut.

Check out some of these photos which we've taken using a smart phone inside an Overboard Phone Case over the last year.

Crewsaver Replay

A very sleek looking buoyancy aid.
This is one for the anglers and sea kayakers. The Crewsaver Replay is effectively the same PFD as the popular Yak Xipe, but with a bit of a makeover and a new name.

The Replay has been constructed from nylon 420D with a slim foam lining, meaning it is just as tough as it's older brother without feeling bulky. At first it seems a little tight, but after a bit of playing around with the adjustments you will discover the Replay's body hugging fit, which is fantastic for on the water freedom of movement.

We think coaches and tourers will love this PFD. It's got plenty of storage space for safety bits, and a neat hole to accommodate a radio antenna in the front left pocket, keeping everything streamline and close at hand.

The Crewsaver Replay is definitely a buoyancy aid for the safety concious paddler. Reflective details are scattered around the exterior for increased visibility on the water, ideal for those late afternoon / early evening sessions, or for when the poor weather creeps up on you.
